RESINET
Expansion Foam Scaffold
Resinet explores the use of expansion foams to render flexible shaped object rigid.

In this particular case, rubber bands are strung between the edges of a 6" x 10" double foam core frame. After 24 hours, the bands (pulling at uniform tension) formed a hyperbolic paraboloid.

At this point a common expansion glue product is applied and left to dry for 24 hours. This process is repeated 5 times until a hard crust has formed over the bands.

The shell is then clipped and removed. Resinet retains its hyperbolic paraboloid structure. Current research is investigating the use of hollow plastic tubing and expansion foams to produce customizable temporary structure.
